The BHPA has moved!
The BHPA’s office headquarters has relocated to a brand new two-storey 4,000ft2 office unit in Leicester, jointly owned by the BHPA and the British Gliding Association. The new premises are part of a new development on the west side of Leicester close to the M1. The Association’s new address is 8 Merus Court, Meridian Business Park, Leicester LE19 1RJ. Phone and fax numbers are now 0116 289 4316 and 0116 281 4949 respectively. Please update your contacts to reflect these changes.
Scottish flying
There has been superb flying in the Scottish Highlands this year. Brendan Reid took this amazing picture early in the season on April 18th in the Glencoe area, with Ben Nevis visible far away far to the north. If you want some of this, check out the new SHPF sites guide in the New Products and reviews pages of the September edition of Skywings. Scottish mountain pilots are indeed a breed apart!

New Laragne site guide
Chabre at Laragne is not normally a difficult site to fly, yet each year visiting pilots make basic errors that sometime result in injury. Recently a visiting British group launched several pilots from the lower south take-off in a northerly wind, presumably fooled by a localised anabatic wind. To help maintain the reputation of Chabre as a suitable site for post-CP pilots, Laragne-based BHPA school Adventure Extreme have produced a free site guide for pilots, schools and instructors who visit the area. It gives full details of take-off and landing areas and access, plus accommodation, rescue and other useful services. Adventure Extreme have run paragliding courses at Laragne full time since 1994. They are happy to help visiting pilots or groups with courses, logistics or just a free safety briefing for any of the local sites. Contact them at trips@adventure-x.com.
